Kalajeera Rice
Aromatic short-grain heirloom, grown rainfed.
1 kg · 5 kg
The rice a household actually eats, from Rayagada's rainfed hill paddy, put through a single mill.

This is not a showpiece grain and is not priced like one. It is indigenous table rice, grown on rainfed hill plots in Rayagada by women-led producer groups, and meant for the pot every day rather than for a festival.
Single mill is the part that matters. Rice usually loses its history in the milling stage, where lots from many villages are blended for volume and the origin stops meaning anything. Keeping a lot to one mill costs throughput and buys back traceability.
Every lot is sorted, weighed and labelled in the village. The groups here grade by hand, which is slower than a machine and considerably more honest about what is in the bag.
